Metaforic Among Network World's Top 10 IT Security Companies To Watch

MetaFortress’ Unique Approach to Application Hardening Recognized as Solution to Prevent Tampering and Piracy

SAN JOSE, Calif. — November 20, 2008 —

Metaforic, a leading provider of anti-tamper solutions, today announced it has been selected by leading technology publication, Network World as one of the top ten IT security companies to watch. The publication recognizes MetaFortress as a leading application security solution that prevents tampering and piracy.

"MetaFortress is software designed to prevent tampering, piracy and theft of applications through use of a digital-hash checksum-based mechanism. When it detects software has been altered, it can either kill the process to eject the attacker, shut down the application or take other actions," reports Network World. "Optimally, MetaFortress should be incorporated into development environments such as Visual Studio to be installed into applications. With piracy still a huge drain on the software industry, it may look at MetaFortress as a means to thwart theft."

The Network World honor is the latest in a series of significant milestones for the early-stage start-up. In September, the company was selected as a semi-finalist in the Global Security Challenge (GSC), an international business competition focusing on and identifying the world’s most promising security start-ups. In addition, within the last two months Metaforic has announced the availability of MetaFortress, closed a round of funding, established a U.S. office, and hired senior sales and technical staff.

“Clearly MetaFortress is addressing a significant market need in order to garner the attention of leading organizations such as Network World and GSC,” said Andrew McLennan CEO of Metaforic. “We are continuing to hear first-hand from countless enterprises and software manufactures alike that they need a new approach to application security. The applications need to be hardened and protected from piracy, illegal usage and hacking. The bottom line is that MetaFortress provides this security and that is why we are experiencing the market traction and industry attention.”
