When we meet Software companies who are suffering from "License Misuse", or piracy as many will describe it, we often find that the compliance team is given responsibility for managing such issues. It is their job to try and detect users who have over-used their allocation of licenses or who have failed to keep up the subscription on their software. Of course to the CMO and CIO the real issue is often actually piracy, users getting tens of thousands of dollars of value for nothing.
